This is aquestion that has been nagging me for quite a while. But before I ask this question,let me take you into an interesting feature of geometry.
A solid figure has four dimensions, i.e, length, breadth, height, which are known as the 3 dimensions of space and then time/duration. A plane surface has 3 dimensions that is , length, breadth and time. A line has 2 dimensions-length & time. A point/dot also has two dimensions-one is time and the other is regarded as thickness/space.
We can see that all of these objects form a chain, i.e, points join together to form a line. Lines join together to form plane figures. Plane figures/surfaces join together to form solid objects. Now if we look at thes objects in the reverse order we can see that with each figure one of the dimensions decreases, except when it comes to the dot/point. A point like a line has two dimensions, though one of the dimensions is different. We must observe that to say that a point has thickness is only an assumption. A point does occupy space though it need not neccessarily be thickness.
Now let me come to my question. If an object can have 4, 3 or 2 dimensions, then might there not be an object that has only one dimension, i.e, might there not be an object that occupies only either space or time? This is my question. If anybody has an answer to this question, please respond. I will be posting again if I come up with another nagging question.
